Class Assignment for Dec. 6-7, 2012

Purchasing a Car
Complete the 'Purchasing a Car' Assignment just like the 'Purchasing a Computer' Assignment.  In this assignment you will get to purchase any car you want.  You have no limit on the amount of money you can spend, so go crazy and buy whatever you want.  You will download the excel file from the class site and then enter the information directly into that excel spreadsheet.  Compare three different vehicles of your choice and then choose one as your final choice.  Don't forget to look at the example for help and don't forget to format and color the columns!

Below are answers to questions I knew you would ask.(These real answers from me!)

Q:  Does it matter what kind of car or truck we buy?  Where can we look?
A:  I don't care! Look wherever you want.  You can look at car dealer website or autos.com or cars.com or craigslist or if you know someone selling something call him and ask him for the details....dang.

Q:  Can we customize the car the way we want it?
A: Fo Shizzle!

Q: What's the difference between automatic and manual.
A: Manual means stick shift.  (You add the joke you want to that.)

Q: What exactly does wheels mean?
A: It means the size of yo rims.

Q: What size rims do we have to have? Can we have any size we want?
A:   It's ok if you go with the standard rims and only have some 10's but you keep 'em clean though.  But if you wanna do it big do like Rich Boy said "THROW SOME D'S ON THAT *****!......Just bought a Cadillac"

Q: What do you mean by additional features?
A:  In that space you can add anything that doesn't come standard or something unique to your car.

Q: What price do we use?
A: Use the MSRP, that's why I put it next to price, duh!

Hope this helps.  (For those of you who were smart enough to even read this)

Drug Free Poem

Drug Free

Being drug free is a choice to make,
Choose the right one, don't put your life at stake.
Choose to be drug free, it's the right thing to do,
Saying no to drugs gives your life value.

If you tried them well that's alright,
Never do them again and keep out of sight.
Making right choices will make you a better person,
Better chances of success and great fortune.

So when you read this remember what I say,
Being drug free is the best way.
Make your own choices you have the right to do so,
But being drug free is the path to follow.

Substitue Assignment for Wed. Oct 3, 2012

"RESUME" Project-6 Weeks Test -  DUE TOMORROW
Hello again,
Sorry I'm out again, Pricipals trippin'.  But today is one of the most important assignments you'll do in class all year.  It's also one of my favorites.  Please do your best on it today and tomorrow I promise I'll be back to help you finish it up.
You will be making a 'Resume.' (It's pronounced [rez-oo-mey, rez-oo-mey]) Google it or ask the substitue what it is.  It's basically a document that you will give to a future employer that shows all the work and qualifications you have to get whatever job you are applying for. It show's what you are made of, but on paper! (I'll show you mine when I get back. Mine's Awesome)  But take this project serious and you'll get alot out of it.

Here's why this Resume Project is so important:
  • Every year students use this same Resume you're making and actually get a job when they interview. (Ask around alot of those students are still at the job they got when they applied using this Resume)
  • You can use this as your real Resume for the rest of your life and you don't have to format a new one, you can just add stuff.
  • It's a "Real World" assignment that will help you in the future and in another class when you have to do this again you will already have one :)
After reading ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS, here's what you will want to ask me so here are my answers:

Q:  What Resume format do we use and what are you talking about on page 79?
A:  Don't worry about the format on pg. 79.  It's ugly I just put it on the instructions to make people think we use the book in class.  Use the templates it's alot easier and better looking. You can use any template you like, but the Chronological one is the best. (look at the 2nd page of instructions and it shows you how)

Q:  What do I put for Name & Address?
A:  Duh put your real name and address

Q:  What do I put for Objective/Goal?
A:  This is where you describe the job you are applying for.  Look up a job on yesterdays "I Want that Job" assignment.  (Yep I told you it would help, but you didnt listen)

Q:  What do I put for Education?
A:  If you read the instructions you would know to put your high school information.  You can also add some of accomplisments like honor roll or perfect attendance.

Q:  I've never had a job so what do I put for work experience?
A:  Yes you have.  Have you ever babysat, cut someones grass, helped your kinfolk out at a job? You can use all that.  If you have a real job, even if it's at a restaurant you can use that too.  Last resort-You can make up a job that would help you get the job your applying for.

Q:  Who do I use for references
A:  Anyone you think would help you get that job and would speak highly of you.  You can use me if you want.  Try not to use relatives.

Gosh that's alot of stuff but if you read it all you're probably pretty smart and didn't need to read it anyway.  Thanks for being awesome and doing your work while I'm gone.  (6th Period calm down and do your work!)

Substitue Assignment for Tues. Oct 2, 2012

"I Want that Job" Assignment -  DUE TODAY (Oct. 2, 2012)
Hey everyone I'm so sorry I'm not there but I expect you to be able to do this assignment without me (I never teach you anything anyway.)  It's not that hard.  The assignment is "I want that Job" and it is due today.
What you will be doing is looking for potential jobs that you may want one day. Any job; lawyer, doctor, police officer, stunt man, rapper, dancer (yea I said it), but any job you want.  This assignment will really help you with your 6 Weeks Exam that we will begin tomorrow.  So look up any job you want and basically just Google each bullet point under step 4 in your directions. So if you Google "How much does a teacher make a year" it will give you a yearly salary for teachers.  Make sure to read the instructions and look at the example.  If you have any questions just comment on the blog and I'll get back to you.  Good luck. Oh and did I forget to mention......................................................your chick!
